Deputy Julio César Bonilla and Commissioner Arístides Rodrigo Guerrero led an initiative to regulate the use of Artificial Intelligence and the treatment of personal data in Mexico City, aiming to balance the benefits of technology with the protection of public information. In this regard, the importance of ensuring ethics, security, and transparency in the use of AI was emphasized.
The proposal seeks to promote a responsible public administration for individuals and entities that receive public resources and use artificial intelligence systems. This approach aims to prevent the misuse of technology and protect the integrity of personal data in a context where AI can be used negatively, such as in cases of digital violence.
Xóchitl Bravo, coordinator of the Parliamentary Group of Morena, highlighted that this initiative positions Mexico City as a national leader in regulating new technologies. It is expected that this project will lay the groundwork for future debates on the responsible use of AI in other parts of Mexico. In this sense, there was a call to citizens to access the necessary tools and combat the inappropriate use of Artificial Intelligence.
The Law for the Use of Artificial Intelligence and Treatment of Personal Data by Obligated Subjects in Mexico City has the support of deputies from Morena and Movimiento Ciudadano, as well as commissioners from Info CDMX. Deputy Víctor Hugo Romo emphasized the importance of this unprecedented step to regulate AI and foster its responsible use in society, serving as an example for the entire country in this area.
